DUI Driver Arrested after Head-On Collision near County Road 17
WOODLAND, CA (October 19, 2018) – Three people were hospitalized early Friday morning following a wrong-way crash on Interstate 5. The identities of the victims were not disclosed to the public.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 4:15 AM near County Road 17. A 2011 Nissan Cube, driven by an 18-year-old woman, was heading southbound when it collided head-on with a 2010 Toyota Prius in the northbound, far-left lane.
The Nissan driver and her 18-year-old passenger both suffered major injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Meanwhile, the 41-year-old woman driving the Toyota was also hospitalized with major injuries. Further updates on their current medical conditions were not provided.
Authorities later arrested the Nissan driver after it was determined that she was driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs at the time of the crash. An investigation is ongoing to identify other possible contributing factors, and additional information will be released once it becomes available.
