Pierce County Fatal Traffic Collision
Pierce County, WA (August 21, 2022) – On Friday, a Toyota driver, a 77-year-old Olympia man, died in a three-vehicle crash on State Route 702.
The fatal collision happened at ab out 8 p.m. near Eighth Avenue Court East.
According to the officers, a Ford F250 pickup driven by a 27-year-old man and a Jeep driven by a 31-year-old man, were eastbound on the freeway. At the same time, a Toyota Tacoma pickup driven by a 77-year-old Olympia man, was westbound.
The Jeep driver slowed while turning left onto Eighth Avenue Court East, while the Ford driver drove into the westbound lane and hit the other vehicles.
BAs a result, the pickups fully blocked the highway and the Jeep rested on the westbound shoulder of Eighth Avenue Court East.
Sadly, the Toyota driver sustained injuries from the collision. The paramedics rushed him to Tacoma General Hospital where he died.
Meanwhile, the Ford driver sustained injuris but not did not need hospitalization. The Jeep driver was not injured.
Investigators say all of the three drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. They withheld the deceased driver’s identity pending notification of family.
The authorities are still investigating the cause of the Pierce County fatal traffic collision.
