High-Speed Chase by Border Patrol leads to Car Accident in Campo
CAMPO, CA (February 19, 2019) – An unidentified 23-year-old woman from San Diego was involved in a car chase by Border Patrol near Highway 80 that lead to an accident Tuesday night.
Per reports, the accident occurred around 5:05 PM near Old Highway 80 and McCain Valley Road.
Border Patrol Agents attempted to stop the woman for possible immigration related violations. However, she refused to stop which led to a car chase. She was driving a blue Mazda MPV. The driver was speeding on Shasta Way which caused her to lose control. She crashed into a steel fence and then hit a utility pole, causing her to flip over.
Officials found four men in the back of the car between the ages of twenty-four and thirty-nine. Police claim the involved victims are possibly Mexican residents.
Two of the men were taken to a hospital along with the driver for further medical evaluation. There have been no updates on their medical conditions. The other two people involved were taken into custody by Border Patrol.
There has been no further information released regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident at this time.
