3 Women Hospitalized after Solo-Car Crash near Lake Road
MERCED, CA (July 3, 2018) – Three women were injured Tuesday evening following an off-road crash near East Yosemite Avenue and Lake Road on the outskirts of Merced.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash took place at about 9:10 PM. An off-road vehicle crashed into a dry canal on private property. None of the occupants were secured in a seat belt and all of them were ejected from the vehicle.
The 34-year-old Merced woman, determined to be the driver, was airlifted to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto after suffering major injuries. A passenger described as a 33-year-old Merced woman sustained facial injuries and was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Merced. A second passenger, a 34-year-old woman from Hermosa Beach, suffered a broken arm and was brought to a hospital in Merced.
The identities and conditions of the injured women were not immediately available.
Drugs and alcohol were ruled out as possible contributing factors in the crash and no other information has been released to the public at this time.
