WSP Respond to King County Multi-Vehicle Collision
King County, WA (Aug. 7, 2023) – On Saturday afternoon, three people sustained injuries following a vehicle collision on State Route 2.
The traffic collision took place at about 3:45 p.m. at milepost 47.
WSP investigators stated that a 65-year-old Sedro Wolley man was westbound on the freeway when he crossed the center line into westbound traffic. According to the authorities, the driver struck a car on the driver’s side which then stopped on the eastbound shoulder and caught fire.
Afterward, a third car swerved to avoid the car that was struck but ended up in a ditch.
The 65-year-old driver who crossed traffic stopped on the westbound shoulder. Immediately, the rescuers airlifted him to Harborview.
The WSP officers said he allegedly wasn’t paying attention to the road while driving and DUI is not suspected in this collision.
Moreover, the 36-year-old man from Vancouver, British Columbia, who was driving the car that was struck and caught fire was airlifted to Harborview. Similarly, the 36-year-old female passenger in his car who was also from Vancouver B.C., was also transported to the same hospital.
The person who was driving the third car was a 63-year-old man from Hawaii. Officers said he and his 58-year-old female passenger from Wenatchee were not injured in the collision.
Officers are still investigating.
