Speeding SUV Crashes into Parked Caltrans Truck near Nordahl Road
NAPA, CA (February 4, 2020) – Three people were injured after a rear-end crash on Highway 78 on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Nordahl Road at approximately 1:30 PM.
Reports showed that Jeep Cherokee was speeding when it smashed into the back of a parked Caltrans Dodge Ram on the shoulder of the highway. The truck had a flashing amber light bar on its roof activated at the time of the accident.
The driver of the SUV, a 41-year-old Carlsbad man, suffered facial cuts and bruises in the crash but did not require emergency hospital care. His passenger, a 34-year-old Carlsbad woman, and state workers, a 61-year-old Santee resident, was sent to Palomar Medical for treatment of moderate to serious head trauma.
An investigation is on-going.
