Highway 41 Crash Injures Drivers

 
Kings County, CA (June 10, 2021) – On Wednesday, three were injured in Highway 41 big rig crash.
 
The accident took place at about 8:55 a.m. near Nevada Avenue north of Kettleman City.
 
Officers said the driver of a white Ford F-150 was roughly 80 mph northbound. He tried to pass a semi-truck and another vehicle.
 
However, the driver did not see that a white, Hyundai Elantra was 55 mph southbound until they were about to crash near Nevada Avenue.
 
Both drivers tried to drift out of the way and to the right, but did not have time.
 
The impact of the Ford completely destroyed the front half of the Hyundai.
 
Then, a pickup proceeded to drive into a dry ravine.
 
The Hyundai’s driver of received severe injuries, while the Ford’s driver and passenger incurred minor ones.
 
“I believe the majority of the impact was on the right side of the vehicle, which absorbed most of the energy from the pickup. I think that’s what saved her – it wasn’t directly on the driver’s side.” an officer said.
 
Right away, rescuers took all three involved people to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia and Adventist Health in Hanford.
Meanwhile, the Hyundai driver was evacuated by helicopter.
