Three Hurt after Chula Vista Pedestrian Accident on Santa Victoria Road

The collision occurred just before 5 p.m. on Santa Victoria Road, about a block east of Muraoka Elementary School. Dispatchers arrived in the Otay Ranch neighborhood of Montecito Village.
According to Chula Vista Police, the pedestrians tried to cross the street when a silver 2018 Toyota Corolla struck them. They were not in a marked crosswalk at the time.
Emergency responders rushed the two younger children to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Witnesses said they were in stable condition.
Paramedics transported the 15-year old female with a head injury, lacerations, and abrasions.
All of the pedestrians are expected to survive.
Furthermore, the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police later described the driver as a male in his 50s. He told officers he was using his cell phone at the time of the crash.
Drugs and alcohol do not appear as factors in the incident. However, the accident is still under investigation.
Make sure to pay attention for pedestrians on the road. Habits like distracted driving, speeding, and DUI can lead to road accidents. In addition, avoid all distractions while behind the wheel of a vehicle. This can lead to serious accidents.
