Passengers Thomas Stewart and Jennifer Stewart Injured in Fatal Collision on Highway 44 [Shingletown, CA]

Shingletown, CA (August 14, 2024) – Passengers Thomas Stewart, 43, and Jennifer Stewart, 38, were injured in a fatal collision on Highway 44 Saturday.

CHP officers responded at around 7:45 to the crash scene west of Ally Gold Way.

Investigating officers said a westbound Nissan Frontier driven by Alexander Miller Zagarino, 31, of Oakland, crossed over the double yellow lines and struck an eastbound GMC Sierra truck head-on.

Responding officers located Alexander Miller Zagarino deceased at the scene.

Meanwhile, the passengers on GMC Sierra truck, Thomas Stewart and Jennifer Stewart, sustained minor and major injuries. They were both taken to Mercy Medical Center.

CHP’s preliminary report determined alcohol has possibly played a role in the collision.

This fatal crash is still under investigation.
