Traffic Accident East of Cordelia Avenue Results in Fatality
Sonora, CA (January 30, 2024) – 65-year-old Thomas Solis of Sonora was killed following a Mono Way collision Friday night.
The fatal collision unfolded around 7:55 p.m. east of Cordelia Avenue.
Officers said Solis was dressed in dark clothing and facing away from traffic while walking eastbound within the number 2 lane.
At the same time, 39-year-old Joseph Brinegar, also of Sonora, was traveling eastbound at an estimated speed of 40-45 MPH.
Sadly, the right front of Brinegar’s vehicle struck with Solis.
Responding teams administered lifesaving measures on Solis but he succumbed to his injuries.
Brinegar, who was wearing a seatbelt during the collision was not injured in the accident.
CHP officers are still investigating this traffic accident and do not suspect of drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
