FONTANA, CA (January 21, 2021) – On Wednesday, Thomas Ray Felix died, while two people sustained injuries after a police chase ended in a crash on the 210 Freeway at Beech Avenue.
According to authorities, at around 12:05 p.m., officers attempted to stop a vehicle concerning a person connected to an ongoing investigation. However, the driver took off and caused a police pursuit that lasted at least 10 minutes, spanning two cities, Fontana police Officer Kevin Anderson said.
The driver returned to Fontana and exited the 210 Freeway at Beech Avenue. Afterward, the driver of the vehicle failed to stop at an intersection and collided with another vehicle occupied by a man and a woman, Anderson added. The two occupants are believed to be a couple.
Then responders pronounced the male occupant of the second vehicle, Mr. Felix, died at the scene.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the female occupant of the second vehicle and the driver of the causing vehicle to a hospital.
