Thomas Owens Killed in Highway 62 Motorcycle Crash [Yucca Valley, CA]

Collision West of Hanford Avenue Kills Joshua Tree Resident

Yucca Valley, CA (December 24, 2022) – On Thursday, Thomas Owens, 50, of Joshua Tree, sustained fatal injuries in a Highway 62 motorcycle crash.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Deputies responded to the scene at about 5:09 p.m. at the intersection with Hanford Avenue.

According to the authorities, a white Kawasaki motorcycle was eastbound in the number one lane of the freeway approaching Hanford Avenue. At the same, a with a grey Toyota Corolla also traveling the same direction.

Officers said it appeared that traffic was stopped on Highway 62 and Thomas Owens failed to see traffic ahead and rear-ended the Corolla in front of him.

Immediately, San Bernardino County Fire rushed the motorcyclist to Hi-Desert Medical Center where he was later declared dead. 

The Corolla driver, on the other hand, did not sustain injuries.

Meanwhile, investigating officers said it does not appear alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision west of Hanford Avenue.
