9-Year-Old Girl Killed in 3-Car Collision on US Highway 287
Wilbarger County, TX (March 18, 2024) On Saturday, 43-year-old Than Than Shwe of Vernon, and a 9-year-old girl were killed in a 3-vehicle collision on US 287 southbound near Oklaunion.
According to the Texas Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened on Highway 287.
Reports say a southwestbound Honda Odyssey collided with a GMC Yukon and a Honda Pilot.
Officials say that Shwe was driving the Odyssey when she lost control let the vehicle cross the cable barrier and collided head-on with the GMC, who had 4 occupants.
Meanwhile, the driver of the other Honda, attempted to avoid the crash, unfortunately, they were not able to do so and ended up crashing with the GMC as well.
Authorities pronounced Shwe dead at the scene, while a passenger on the GMC, a 9-year-old girl from Dallas, was taken to Wilbarger General, where she was later pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, officials also confirmed 7 people were hurt in the tragic collision.
