Tesla Driver Dies in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 17 [Phoenix, AZ]

Phoenix, AZ (May 24, 2022) – On Monday, at about 4:30 a.m., a Tesla female driver dies in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 17.

Officers say the traffic incident took place on the freeway’s northbound lanes near Cactus Road.

According to the investigators, a Toyota Camry female driver on the freeway ran out of gas and stopped in the middle traffic lane. She called for assistance, however, a Tesla crashed into the Toyota Camry before the troopers arrived.

The 49-year-old woman driving the Telsa got out of her vehicle. Suddenly, a Honda Pilot slammed into the Telsa and female driver. 

Unfortunately, the Tesla driver lost her life at the scene. Officers withheld her identity pending notification of kin.

Moreover, three occupants in the Honda Pilot took off running. The paramedics took one of them to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The authorities questioned the other two, a man and woman, on their role in the collision. Officers said they could face charges.

The paramedics also took the Toyota Camry driver and officers expect her to survive.

Meanwhile, the authorities say that another vehicle may have been involved that left the crash scene.
