Two-Vehicle Car Crash in San Diego Involving Inmate Bus
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 13, 2019) – A San Diego Sheriff’s transport bus carrying fifteen people was involved in an accident with a Tesla Wednesday afternoon on 6th Avenue.
Officials reported the crash occurred around 3:00 PM at the intersection of 6th Avenue and A Street.
The San Diego Sheriff’s Department said there was a total of thirteen female inmates and two deputies onboard the bus at the time of the accident. The bus was headed to Las Colinas Detention Center from the courthouse. Soon after, a Tesla crashed into the bus.
The Tesla sustained damages to the front bumper and right side. The police stated one of the female occupants in the bus was injured but declined medical treatment.
Traffic was shut down immediately after following the collision. In addition, there has been no further information released regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident as the investigation continues.
