Driver and Passenger Dies in Camarillo 2-Car Rollover Crash
CAMARILLO, CA (July 11, 2019) – Thursday evening, 71-year-old Teruyo Washington, and 76-year-old Lawrence Washington were killed in a rollover crash on Las Posas Road.
The crash happened just before 8:00 p.m., at the intersection of Las Posas Road and Laguna Road.
According to the CHP, a 2008 Dodge Challenger, driven by a 23-year old Oxnard man, failed to stop at a posted stop sign before striking a 2009 Honda in the intersection.
Upon impact, the Honda overturned and consequently landed upside down in a ditch. Officers later located the vehicle partially submerged upon arrival.
The driver of the Honda, Teruyo, and his passenger, Lawrence, were pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the impact. Both victims have also been identified as Camarillo residents.
Furthermore, the driver and passenger of the Dodge Challenger were transported to a hospital for further treatment of minor injuries.
No arrests have been made at this time. However, CHP is currently continuing their investigation. The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the wreckage. However, the roadway has since reopened.
Anyone with information is asked to call CHP Officer R. Mohun at 805-662-2640.
