Chelsea Stiles Arrested in Fatal DUI Head-On Crash on Highway 227
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (December 1, 2019) – A man was killed and a woman was arrested following a DUI head-on crash Sunday night in San Luis Obispo.
The crash happened around 6:00 p.m. on Highway 227, just south of Patchett Road.
According to the CHP, a 26-year-old Chelsea Stiles of Arroyo Grande was driving a 2005 GMC north on Highway 227. At the same time, a 72-year-old Terry Tilton of San Luis Obispo was driving a 2013 Honda SUV south on the highway.
The GMC traveled into the southbound lane and collided head-on with the Honda. As a result, Tilton suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Stiles was moderately injured and taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, along with an 18-month-old girl who received minor injuries. The girl, also from Arroyo Grande, was a passenger in Stiles’ car, the CHP said.
Authorities later arrested Stiles on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the CHP said.
Investigation of this fatal crash is ongoing.
