3 Injured in Santa Barbara Auto Accident on Highway 101 near Bath Street
SANTA BARBARA, CA (December 28, 2023) – Monday night, Teodulo Navaclemente was arrested following a startling wrong-way crash on Highway 101.
The incident happened at about 11:00 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Highway 101, near the Bath Street off-ramp.
According to reports, a 38-year-old Navaclamente in a Toyota Tundra pickup truck traveled south in the northbound lanes. Then, it collided head-on with a 49-year-old Oxnard resident driving a minivan.
After the crash, two people sustained critical injuries while another had moderate injury. Responders took them to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by ground ambulances.
Meanwhile, authorities arrested the wrong-way driver for allegedly driving under the influence.
Also, the incident shut down the northbound lanes for a short period following the collision.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
