Two Vehicles Involved in Fatal Collision near 280 Freeway

SUNNYVALE, CA (November 26, 2019) – A teenager died in a crash on Highway 85 southbound on Tuesday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at the transition ramp near southbound Highway 280 at approximately 11:00 AM.

Reports showed that the 16-year-old boy was in the rear seat of a 2003 Toyota Corolla that passed a 1999 Ford F-Series dump truck. After that, it lost control and veered off the roadway. It came to the right-hand shoulder and struck a tree before it went into traffic, spun out, and collided with the Ford.

The boy ejected from the Toyota as it came to rest in the roadway. Paramedics transported the victim to the hospital, where officials pronounced him dead due to severe injuries.

There are no reports regarding the conditions of the Toyota’s 42-year-old driver. In addition, officials did not update the conditions of 46-year-old front-seat passenger and two other juveniles in the rear.

The crash shut down both the northbound and southbound ramps from Highway 85 for several hours. Investigators are still looking into the cause of the fatal incident.
