Teen Riding Skateboard Dies in Ramona Accident on Barona Mesa Road
RAMONA, CA (November 26, 2020) – On Wednesday, a crash on Barona Mesa Road near La Plata Court killed a teenage skateboarder.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Jeff Christy, the fatal skateboarding accident occurred at around 7:20 p.m.
Moreover, it happened on Barona Mesa Road near La Plata Court, in a neighborhood south of San Vicente Road.
Reports revealed that two teenage boys were riding skateboards. Meanwhile, another teen was riding a bicycle when the incident occurred.
The skateboarders then headed east in the eastbound lane. On the other hand, the bicyclist was in the westbound lanes, heading east.
One of the teens riding a skateboard was struck by an eastbound 2001 Ford F-150 driven by a 20-year-old Ramona man. The vehicle came around a left-hand curve when it struck the victim.
The driver involved remained at the scene and gave the teen life-saving efforts. Responders rushed to the scene and began giving medical aid. However, authorities later pronounced the teen dead at the scene.
Authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the Ramona skateboarding crash.
