Teenage Boy Fatally Injured in Solo-Car Wreck near Fort Tejon Road
LEBEC, CA (September 21, 2018) – A teenage boy was killed early Friday evening and two others were injured following a rollover crash on 5 Freeway. The identities of the victims were not immediately released, pending notification of family members.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 5:45 PM near Fort Tejon Road. For unknown reasons, a vehicle veered towards the left side of the road, struck a curb, and went up an embankment before overturning.
A teen boy and a girl inside of the vehicle were ejected onto the road. Unfortunately, the teenager sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics. Meanwhile, the girl and the man driving the vehicle were transported to a local hospital with major injuries. Updates on their current medical conditions were not available. Two other passengers, an adult and a 2-year-old child, were reportedly unharmed in the crash.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the wreck and to identify possible contributing factors. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
