17-Year-Old Hospitalized after Auto Accident near Berkshire Road in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 31, 2020) – Thursday afternoon, a male teenager was injured in a mini-motorcycle and auto collision on Monitor Street.
A 17-year-old boy riding a pocket-style mini bike was struck by a car near Berkshire Road around 3:15 p.m. First responders arrived to the scene shortly after.
Authorities later confirmed that the teenager was not wearing a helmet at the time. As a result, he sustained major injuries.
Medics transported the teen to a nearby hospital for further treatment of his injuries. He is currently listed in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and cooperated with the police investigation.
At this time, authorities do not believe drugs, alcohol or speed played a role in the collision, which remains under investigation.
The surrounding area on Monitor Street was closed during cleanup and preliminary duties. However, the roadway has since been reopened.
