1 Hospitalized in San Diego Pedestrian Accident on West Mission Bay Drive
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 2, 2021) – Monday night, a teenage girl sustained injuries in a pedestrian crash on West Mission Bay Drive near Bayside Lane.
According to San Diego police Officer John Buttle, the incident occurred at around 6:55 p.m. Moreover, it happened on West Mission Bay Drive east of Bayside Lane.
Reports revealed that a 63-year-old man driving a westbound 1998 Lexus sedan ran a red light outside the parking lot for Bonita Cove.
Then, it hit the northbound 17-year-old female pedestrian walking in a designated crosswalk, just east of Bayside Lane.
Moreover, responders transported the victim to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, including multiple facial fractures, a brain bleed, and fractures to the right leg and right arm, Buttle added.
Furthermore, the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash remained at the scene.
Also, authorities do not believe that alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
As pedestrians, we are also responsible for the laws. It is important to follow these rules to avoid accidents that can lead to injuries and worst, death.
