Consuelo Mendiola Involved in Fatal Pedestrian Accident near Road 200
PLAINVIEW, CA (June 8, 2018) – A teenager was killed in a pedestrian collision on Avenue 192, on Friday night. The victim’s identity was not immediately released to the public.
The collision occurred at around 8:45 PM near Avenue 192. CHP received a report about a traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle, just west of Road 200. Porterville CHP officers arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation.
It was found that the victim was a 17-year-old male who was walking in the westbound lane of Avenue 192. The driver was identified as 58-year-old Consuelo Mendiola of Exeter, was driving a 2008 Ford westbound on Avenue 192, west of Road 200.
Mendiola told officers she was unable to see the victim walking in the crosswalk because of his dark clothing, the time of night, and lighting conditions in the area. Mendiola attempted to avoid the pedestrian but she was unsuccessful. The victim suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash, and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Alcohol or drugs are not considered to be contributing factors in this incident. The collision is still being investigated at this time.
