Teen Dies in Solo-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 5 [Old Town, CA]

Old Town, CA (August 20, 2022) – Yesterday, a 16-year-old girl lost her life in a deadly solo-vehicle crash on Interstate 5.

The fatal accident happened at about 5 p.m. south of Rosecrans Street.

According to the authorities investigating the incident, a white Nissan sport utility vehicle, driven by a 53-year-old Kansas woman was northbound on the freeway. Suddenly, the vehicle swerved off the roadway and overturned. Sadly, the impact threw the teen passenger onto the city street below the freeway.

Immediately, the emergency responders arrived at the scene and took the teen to an area hospital where the authorities later declared her dead.

Moreover, the Nissan driver and a male passenger sustained minor injuries and were taken to a hospital.

Officers say they do not have details if the deceased was wearing a seatbelt during the crash.

In the meantime, officers withheld the teen’s identity pending notification of her family. Officers are still investigating the cause of the deadly crash on Interstate 5. They added that it is unknown if drugs/and or alcohol played a role in the collision.
