Teen Critical after Pedestrian Accident on Verdugo Road [Glendale, CA]

DUI Driver Involved in Pedestrian Accident Near Los Encinos Avenue

 
GLENDALE, CA (August 23, 2019) – A teen suffered critical injuries after a pedestrian accident on Verdugo Road on Friday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened near Los Encinos Avenue at approximately 7:53 PM. Based on a report, the 13-year-old boy stepped in a marked crosswalk when a Subaru BRZ sports car struck him. In addition, the Subaru failed to stop in the crosswalk.
 
Glendale firefighters arrived at the scene for rescue. Paramedics sent the victim to the hospital and listed in a critical condition.
 
The driver, 63-year-old Christopher Carone of Glendale, was later arrested on suspicion of DUI. Anyone with information on the crash was asked to call the Glendale police Traffic Division at 818-548-3131.
