28-Year-Old Calimesa Man Killed in Pedestrian Crash near Veile Avenue
BEAUMONT, CA (October 6, 2018) – A man was killed early Saturday morning following a pedestrian crash near Veile Avenue. The victim was later identified as 28-year-old Taylor Matich, a resident of Calimesa.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 1:43 AM on Interstate 10, just east of the merge with the 60 Freeway. As per reports, Matich was walking on the freeway when he was struck by a vehicle in the left lane.
The impact threw the man into the No. three lane, where he was hit by two more vehicles. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers. Meanwhile, the driver of the first vehicle remained on site and cooperated with investigators. No charges or arrests have been made at this time.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors.
