1 Dead in Oceano Dunes Vehicle Crash near Highway 22

OCEANO DUNES, CA (February 28, 2024) – Sunday afternoon, 31-year-old Taylor Brard died in a devastating auto accident near Highway 22.

The incident involving a recreational off-highway vehicle happened at about 2:00 p.m. near Sand Highway 22.

Officers located the side-by-side at the bottom of what was described as a “large bowl” with visible damage to its roll cage. Meanwhile, several bystanders performed CPR on the driver.

However, despite life-saving measures, driver Brard of Atascadero was declared dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, responders took the passenger by helicopter to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
