Tayishe Baltys Arrested in Fatal DUI Crash on East Plaza Boulevard [National City, CA]

Teenager and Stepfather Killed in National City Pedestrian Accident

National City, CA (June 24, 2022) – On Wednesday, Tayishe Baltys, 43, was arrested in a DUI crash on East Plaza Boulevard killing a 15-year-old girl and her 39-year-old stepfather.

The fatal incident took place minutes before 10 p.m. in the 3100 block area, near the intersection with Harbison Avenue.

According to the investigators, Baltys was westbound in her 2020 Toyota Prius when she struck the girl and her stepfather walking home from a neighborhood market.

When the authorities arrived, they found both victims on the ground and Baltys in the vehicle.

Unfortunately, the girl lost her life at the scene.

Immediately, the paramedics took the stepfather to Scripps Mercy Hospital where he died. Officers withheld their identity pending family notification.

Later on, officers booked Tayishe Baltys into Las Colinas women’s jail in Santee. They held her on $500,000 bail pending arraignment on Friday afternoon.
