Tarrin Cantlon and Jennifer Ringwald Involved in Crash on Highway 50 in Jefferson City

Jefferson City, MO (August 2, 2024) – On Friday, Tarrin Cantlon and Jennifer Ringwald both from Jefferson City sustained injuries in a crash on Highway 50.

A crash occurred Friday in the 4000 block of Highway 50 in Jefferson City when a woman tried to save a loose dog.

According to a crash report from the Jefferson City Police Department, a witness saw a dog running loose on the highway. She pulled her vehicle onto the shoulder of the westbound lanes and attempted to get the dog off the road.

The woman then heard screeching tires and the sound of a crash. Jennifer Ringwald, 37, of Jefferson City, was driving a 2019 Ford Fiesta.

She told police that she slowed down and tried to move to the passing lane to avoid the dog and the woman.

The Ford was then rear-ended by a 2014 Kia Optima driven by Tarrin Cantlon, 30, also of Jefferson City. Cantlon allegedly looked away from the road to check his vehicle’s temperature gauge due to overheating issues.

When he looked up, he saw the Ford stopped in the driving lane, tried to stop the Kia, but ended up hitting the Ford.

Cantlon sustained minor injuries, and his 1-year-old passenger was unharmed. Cantlon was wearing a seatbelt, and the baby was in a child restraint.

Ringwald was taken to a hospital in Columbia for evaluation, but the severity of her injuries was not listed in the report.

It was not specified if she was wearing a seatbelt.

ABC 17 News contacted the Jefferson City Police Department regarding the status of the dog.
