James Jefferson, Tanya Long, Debbie Matthews, and Child Involved in Collision near Freeway 80
SOLANO COUNTY, CA (July 17, 2018) – On Tuesday morning, an elderly woman was killed and three other people were injured in a rollover crash on Highway 113. The deceased victim was later identified as 62-year-old Tanya Long of Dixon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Long was driving her black Honda CR-V northbound on Highway 113 approaching the eastbound 80 Freeway on-ramp, around 10:00 AM.
Before entering the on-ramp, the Honda drove across a raised dirt shoulder and became airborne. It went over the eastbound lanes of the 80 Freeway and over the center divider. The front end of her vehicle crashed into the driver’s side of a black Dodge Dart that was in the fast lane of the highway. The Dart continued westbound for about a mile before stopping.
The Honda rolled over numerous times and came to a full stop on the westbound shoulder. Long was trapped inside the heavily damaged vehicle, and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers.
The driver of the Dart was identified as 62-year-old James Jefferson of Fair Oaks. Jefferson sustained major injuries, and his passenger, 54-year-old Debbie Matthews, suffered minor injuries. Another passenger, a 9-year-old boy, suffered moderate injuries. All three occupants were rushed to the Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center, but there is no update on their current medical conditions.
Anyone with additional information about the incident is urged to call the California Highway Patrol at (800) TELL-CHP (835-5247) or Officer Garside at the CHP-Solano Area Office at (707) 428-2100.
Sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Tanya Long. Wishing them strength and support during this difficult time. May she rest in peace.
