Virginia Hass and Barbara Proffitt Injured in Fatal Accident on I-90 West of Spokane
CHENEY, WA (February 14, 2018) – A rollover crash on Interstate 90 near the Cheney-Tyler exit on Wednesday morning, resulted in one death and two injuries.
Around 8:30 AM, a car traveling in the westbound lanes of the I-90 attempted to pass another car when the 2003 Chevy Trailblazer lost control off the roadway, rolled, and came to a rest on its top near milepost 260 just 20 miles east of Spokane.
By 9 AM, the 45-year-old driver, Tamara L Wilkins, was pronounced dead. The two passenger, 88-year old Virginia Hass and 64-year-old Barbara Proffitt, sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to the Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.
Although the vehicle was not blocking the roadway, officials closed off the right lane to investigate the scene of the crash. Trooper Jeff Sevigney says that the vehicle was traveling too fast for the snowy conditions.
Wishing the family and friends of Tamara L Wilkins strength and courage in this difficult time.
