16-year-old Talha Abdel-Rahman Dies After Crash on 40th Street in Phoenix

Phoenix, AZ (February 25, 2024) – On Saturday afternoon, 16-year-old Talha Abdel-Rahman died in a fiery crash on 40th Street and Baseline Road.

Phoenix police responded to a two-car collision around 2:50 p.m. near 40th Street and Baseline Road, where they discovered a car in flames. 

The Phoenix Fire Department extinguished the fire, but 16-year-old Talha Abdel-Rahman, who was inside the car, died at the scene.

The crash involved a second car carrying two people, including a child. 

Both were transported to the hospital as a precaution but are expected to be fine.

According to the police, Abdel-Rahman, traveling west on Baseline Road, did not stop at a red light at 40th Street. 

His vehicle then hit a light pole and immediately caught fire. Police indicated that speed played a role in the crash.
