Driver Dies after Failing to Stop at Stop Sign and Crashes into Truck on Highway 128 in Calistoga
CALISTOGA, CA (September 11, 2019) – A man died in a fiery crash Wednesday evening in unincorporated Napa County.
The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. on Highway 128 at Tubbs Lane.
CHP officials said a large water transport truck, driven by 35-year-old Misael Vasquez-Rodriguez of Middletown, was heading northbound on Highway 128. For unknown reasons, a minivan traveling westbound on Tubbs Lane failed to stop at a stop sign.
The two vehicles collided and the minivan caught fire.
As a result, the minivan driver died at the scene. The Napa County Coroner identified him as Tai Anh Vu, 51, of Santa Rosa.
Paramedics transported Vasquez-Rodriguez to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries, CHP said.
Highway 128 was closed in both directions for three hours while officials worked on the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
