Tahara Day Killed and 3 Hurt in Oakland Auto Accident on 68th Street
OAKLAND, CA (July 15, 2020) – Late Monday night, 31-year-old Tahara Day died and three others sustained injuries in a semi-truck crash on 68th Avenue.
According to reports, the crash between a car and a semi-truck occurred around 11:28 p.m. The fatal incident took place on 68th Avenue and Foothill Boulevard.
The police traffic investigators revealed that an International semi-truck traveled south on 68th Avenue. However, a westbound Mercedes on Foothill Boulevard then collided into it. Afterward, the semi-truck hit a building. Eventually, the truck and the building caught fire.
When the firefighters arrived at the scene, they put off the fire and aided the injured.
Meanwhile, the authorities declared the female Mercedes passenger, Ms. Day, dead at the scene. The authorities identified her as a San Leandro resident.
Furthermore, the 33-year-old male Mercedes driver from Hayward sustained severe injuries. Thus, responders took him to a local hospital.
Also, a 14-year-old female Mercedes passenger required hospitalization, and is currently in stable condition.
Moreover, the 37-year-old male truck driver from Visalia sustained severe burns. Responders took him to a local hospital in stable condition.
Additionally, the police confirmed that alcohol and speed played a role in the crash.
