Female Pedestrian Fatally Injured when Struck by Car on 8400 Block of South Hosmer Street near S 84th Street

 
TACOMA, WA (February 22, 2018) – Just before 7:30 PM on Wednesday evening, a woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on the 8400 block of South Hosmer Street, just off the northbound Interstate 5 exit for S 84th Street.
 
According to reports, the unidentified victim had just left a neighborhood grocery store and was crossing outside of a crosswalk in the northbound lanes of S Hosmer, when she was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound.
 
The car did not stop or slow down, and fled the scene with the woman lying in the road. Authorities believe the hit-and-run car was a two-door, older model Jeep Cherokee with a possible two-tone color of brown and cream. It is likely to have significant damage to the front-end, said Tacoma Police Department spokesperson Officer Loretta Cool.
 
Hosmer was blocked between S 84th and S 92nd streets while officials investigated the scene of the crash. Detective are currently going through surveillance footage of local business near the accident, to try and find the suspect. No other information has been released at this time.
