Two Customers Showered in Glass after Pickup Smashes into Shari’s Restaurant
TACOMA, WA (April 23, 2018) – Two customers were showered in Glass after a Pickup crashed into Shari’s Restaurant on S 72nd Street on Monday.
The incident occurred just after 1:00 PM at Shari’s Restaurant when the Ford F-250 jumped the curb. The truck continued forward and crashed into the part of the building near where a 92-year-old woman and her 63-year-old son were sitting. Their identities have not been disclosed at this time.
Bonnie Helms, a nurse from the nearby Tacoma General Hospital was also at the restaurant and rendered medical aid until medics arrived. According to Helms, the two were covered in glass and the son received cuts.
Medics arrived and treated the two at the scene. The victims did not need to be taken to a local hospital and that the driver mistook the gas pedal for the brake, according to Loretta Cool with the Tacoma Police. No one else was hurt in the crash.
There is no additional information released to the public at this time.
