62-Year-Old Man Struck and Injured by Car on South 36th and Tyler Streets
TACOMA, WA (March 1, 2018) – A 62-year-old man was struck and seriously injured by a car in the intersection of South 36th and Tyler Streets on Thursday afternoon in South Tacoma.
Around 4 PM, a 28-year-old man was driving westbound on 36th and turning south onto Tyler after the light changed, at the same time a pedestrian was crossing the street. The vehicle struck the man on foot.
The victim was critically injured and transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. He is not expected to survive, according to police spokeswoman Loretta Cool.
Traffic was rerouted and the intersection was closed until about 8 PM, for investigation by authorities. At least one minor collision occurred following the pedestrian accident. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be involved in the incident.
