Driver Injured in SR 509 Collision
Tacoma, WA (May 21, 2022) – On Friday, Neil Blankenship, 29, of Tacoma, lost his life in a DUI crash on State Route 509.
The authorities received the crash report minutes before 3 a.m. at Taylor Way East.
Troopers said a Nissan Maxima occupied by two men was southbound on the highway. Then, it left the roadway to the right, hit a telephone pole, and rested on railroad tracks.
Immediately, the paramedics took Blankenship, the passenger, to Tacoma General Hospital where he died.
The paramedics also took the driver to the hospital with unknown injuries.
Reports say Blankenship and the car driver were not wearing seat belts during the crash.
Meanwhile, officers said vehicular homicide charges would be sent to the Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review once the hospital releases the driver.
We at Sweet Lawyers extend our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Neil Blankenship. May the bereaved find peace and strength in this time of sorrow.
