Redding Pedestrian Killed in DUI Hit-and-Run, Driver Arrested
Redding, CA (December 12, 2024) On Monday evening, 25-year-old Tabitha Wilkens of Redding was arrested after causing a pedestrian crash near Canby Road that killed a person.
According to Redding police, the deadly incident happened at about 11:30 p.m. near Pineland Drive.
Reports say that a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash late Monday night. Officers responded to reports of the collision around 11:30 p.m. near Canby Road and Pineland Drive.
Upon arrival, police found a man with life-threatening injuries caused by the crash. Emergency responders transported him to Mercy Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities identified Wilkens as the suspected driver. She was stopped by officers during their search and found to be under the influence of alcohol. Investigators determined Wilkens was driving northbound on Canby Road when she struck the pedestrian, who had been walking along the shoulder. Wilkens briefly stopped after the crash but left the scene before authorities arrived.
