Passenger Syrus Suniga Killed in DUI Crash on Kearney Boulevard [Fresno, CA]

Fatalities Reported in Kearney Boulevard Vehicle Crash

Fresno, CA (September 14, 2024) – 21-year-old Syrus Suniga was killed in a DUI crash on Kearney Boulevard early Friday morning.

It was before 2:45 a.m. when the deadly crash happened at the intersection with Garfield Avenue.

CHP officers said 25-year-old Dario Urena was driving east on Kearney Boulevard when he swerved off the roadway and crashed into a palm tree and caught on fire.

Urena, along with his two passengers, Syrus Suniga, and 27-year-old Joey Suniga Jr., were trapped inside the vehicle and died at the scene.

Investigators said alcohol may have played a role in the deadly crash.
