3 Vehicles Involved in Fiery Crash on 5 Freeway in Sylmar
SYLMAR, CA (November 28, 2018) – Injuries were reported following a fiery crash early Wednesday morning on 5 Freeway in Sylmar, CHP officials said.
The crash happened around 12:45 a.m. on the northbound direction of 5 Freeway, just North of 210 Freeway.
According to an initial report by the California Highway Patrol, a green Nissan Altima was rear-ended by black SUV in the HOV lane of the freeway. A third vehicle was also involved but no further details were provided.
One of the cars burst into flames due to severe impact and fluids were scattered across all lanes.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and provided medical aid to the victims. The extent of injuries sustained and number of patients were not immediately known.
All lanes were blocked while the investigation and clearing operation were being conducted.
