Sydney Van Rijn of Longview Killed in West Methvin Street DUI Crash [Longview, TX]

Longview, TX (May 16, 2023) On Saturday morning, 23-year-old Sydney Van Rijn was killed in a fatal DUI crash on West Methvin Street.

According to Longview police, the solo-vehicle crash happened around 2 a.m. at the 400 block of West Methvin Street.

Reports say that 22-year-old Hunter Ryan Tigert of Lone Star was driving a southbound black Dodge Charger with 3 passengers on West Methvin Street. Tigert failed to make a curve and veered off the roadway and collided with a building.

Tigert and his 3 passengers all sustained injuries and were all taken to the hospital. However, Van Rijn, who was the front passenger was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Longview PD later arrested Hunter Ryan Tigert for intoxication manslaughter and booked them into the Gregg County Jail, with a bond set at $30,000.
