LIVERMORE, CA (November 22, 2019) – A woman was killed after being struck by a passing vehicle late Friday afternoon in Livermore.
The crash happened around 5:30 p.m., on First Street at Larch Lane. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.
According to the California Highway Patrol, 78-year-old Sydney Gay Bettencourt of Livermore was driving south on First Street when she struck the center median for unknown reasons. Moreover, she was the only person in the vehicle at the time.
Bettencourt got out of her vehicle and walked to a nearby sidewalk. Minutes later, she walked back toward her damaged vehicle where she was struck by a northbound motorist. She was not in a crosswalk, according to police.
