Elderly Woman and Her Dog Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Fremont
FREMONT, CA (November 29, 2019) – An elderly woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash Friday evening in Fremont, authorities said.
The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. at Niles Boulevard and Linda Drive.
According to the CHP, the woman was walking a dog at the intersection when a vehicle hit her. Witnesses told officers the pedestrian was in a crosswalk when the crash occurred.
Paramedics immediately responded and tried to save the woman, but unsuccessful. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The dog was also killed in the crash.
Authorities identified the woman Saturday as Suzanne Ogi, 72, of Fremont.
Witnesses told police the driver stopped and walked over to the woman, then drove away. They described the driver as a white male in a light-colored, four-door sedan that likely has front-end damage.
The car was last seen going northbound toward Union City and officers searched the area unsuccessfully.
Authorities asked anyone with information about the incident to contact Fremont police dispatch at (510) 790-6800, ext. 3.
