Elderly Driver Loses Control of Car near North Union Boulevard almost Hitting Homes
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (June 17, 2018) – An elderly driver is hospitalized after an accident on Briargate Boulevard.
According to police reports, the SUV driver likely had health problems while driving eastbound on Briargate, near North Union Boulevard. He lost control, sped onto the sidewalk, and crashed through a fence. There is no update on his current medical condition.
The homeowner, Tanya Blackwell, there were no damages to the house. Just a skid mark was found on the side of the home, and it appeared as if the SUV was driving on the side of the house. Authorities removed the vehicle from the backyard with a crane, and no other injuries were reported.
Drugs and alcohol are not considered to be contributing factors in this crash, but the driver will face reckless driving charges. The incident blocked traffic for about three hours after the crash, as officials cleared the area and investigated.
