SUV-Big Rig Crash on Interstate 10 Injures 3 People [Blythe, CA]

Blythe, CA (April 8, 2023) On Friday morning, an SUV-big rig crash on Interstate 10 sent 3 people to the hospital.

Authorities say that the traffic accident happened at about 7 a.m. on the westbound I-10 near the Corn Springs Exit.

CHP says that an SUV collided with a water attenuator consequently causing a big rig to crash into the attenuator.

The impact of the crash sent the SUV to spin out of control and pushed the attenuator into a lane, where the tractor-trailer eventually hit the roadway barrier.

Officials say that the SUV had 4 occupants, a male driver, his wife, and 2 kids. The woman suffered trauma to her face and pain to her chest due to the airbag deploying and striking the windshield. Meanwhile, the driver sustained minor lacerations to his head and face, fortunately, the children were safe and unhurt.

Mercy Air transported the woman to Desert Regional Medical Center. Medics also transported both drivers to the hospital.

CHP is investigating the SUV-big rig crash on Interstate 10 and have not released additional information at this time.
