Fatal Auto-Pedestrian Crash Near Old Town Avenue Under Investigation
San Diego, CA (September 12, 2024) On Wednesday morning, a pedestrian was pronounced dead after a suspected DUI crash on Interstate 5.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the auto-pedestrian crash happened at about 112:30 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5 near Old Town Avenue.
Reports say that first responders found a person in the middle of the roadway, while a short distance away a white Volkswagen vehicle with its windshield caved in was also found.
Authorities say that an unidentified pedestrian was hit by the vehicle and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials questioned the driver and was ultimately arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The CHP is conducting an investigation about the fatal incident.
