Man Hurt after Norwalk Police Chase Crash on 5 Freeway
NORWALK, CA (November 26, 2018) – One of three suspects in an attempted Buena Park heist was critically hurt after a pursuit crash on Saturday, November 24.
At around 4 a.m., officers interrupted a burglary in progress at a strip mall on the 7600 block of Knott Avenue, which turned into a police chase into Norwalk, a news release from the Buena Park Police Department stated.
According to the news release, the suspect vehicle stopped in northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway near Pioneer Boulevard, and three men attempted to escape on foot. The driver was arrested, one passenger escaped and another passenger was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross southbound lanes of traffic.
The injured man was transported to a local hospital and was listed in critical condition, according to the department’s release. It stated that officials were still working to identify him.
The 20-year-old Compton man who was reportedly behind the wheel of the vehicle involved in the police chase was arrested and faces commercial burglary and felony evasion charges, according to the police. His identity was not immediately released.
