Fleeing Fraud Suspect Crashes With Police Patrol Car on State Route 599
Tukwila, WA (May 15, 2020)– On Wednesday, a suspect fleeing from the police caused a crash on State Route 599.
The suspect was initially reported for trying to fake his ID to cash a check on May 13. Police responded to the scene around 2:20 p.m. but the suspect rushed into a nearby vehicle to run from the arrest.
An officer then approached the man and tried to convince him to step out of the car.
However, the suspect drove over and pulled the arresting officer at a short distance. Tukwila police officer Victor Masters said the suspect drove over a curb and grass as he fled.
Eventually, officers spotted the suspect going the wrong direction on SR-599 Freeway.
Indeed, the suspect went against the oncoming vehicles as he ran away from the police. One officer had to stop the suspect from escaping, which ended in the suspect’s car hitting the front of the officer’s car.
Police Arrest
The suspect immediately stepped out of the car and fled on foot. K-9 police dog helped out and later, he was captured.
The suspect was booked into jail for robbery, identity theft, forgery, reckless driving causing the crash on State Route 599, and driving with a suspended license, police said.
Another person involved was a woman who was in the vehicle with the suspect was taken into custody. She is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor warrants.
Moreover, the officers involved did not report any injuries from the incident.
